Now and then we all find ourselves in need of some help to get us through a challenging time.
That was exactly the case when we got a call from Peta whose husband, Chris, had recently gone into hospital for a back operation. While the surgery was a success, Chris needed a lot of support while he recovered and Peta realised quickly that she wasn't as strong as she used to be either.
We immediately sent one of our experienced carers, Di, round to meet them and work out which activities and times Peta needed another set of hands for. Di very quickly became part of the family, popping in every morning to help Peta heave Chris up out of bed in the morning and get him all showered, dressed and safely into his chair for the day. Di also arranged with Chris’s physiotherapist to be shown all the rehabilitation exercises he needed to do to help speed up his recovery.
For any post-surgical patient and their family, there’s nothing more reassuring than knowing there is a reliable and professional support system around them to make sure their recovery goes well. But while Chris's family were sure that he would be getting the best care after they called in the CareCompany, they didn’t expect that Di would actually become a good friend.
We were incredibly touched when Chris’s wife Peta wrote to us expressing her gratitude for the genuine care that Di provided to her husband.
Hi, I would like to thank you so much for all the concern you have shown, and for sending us Di Russell to come and care for Chris. She has really become a good friend rather than a carer and we have all got on so well together. Her caring is very much appreciated. I really think that Chris has improved to such an extent that we will not require Di’s wonderful services after the end of September. If we do need caring services in the future, we will certainly get in touch with you again. Kind regards, Peta Mason
At the end of Chris’s recovery, Di had cared for Chris for only two months and made a huge difference to this family when they really needed it. Set-backs in recovery are particularly difficult when we reach our older years, so investing in the right support can ensure you stay happy, healthy and in your own home for years to come.
